Week 1: In the Beginning
Welcome to Week 1 of The Grand Narrative, a 42-week journey through Scripture designed to help you see not just the stories of the Bible, but the Story behind the stories.
Before diving into what's broken in the world (that comes next week with Genesis 3), we pause in Genesis 1 and 2 to see what's right: a good creation, humanity made in God's image, and an invitation into relationship with Him. Psalms 8 and 19 remind us that creation itself points back to its Creator, and John 1 reveals something remarkable; the same "beginning" language from Genesis reappears, showing us that Jesus was present at creation and ultimately "became flesh and dwelt among us."
Throughout the year, we'll trace five threads woven through Scripture: His People, His Presence, His Rule, His Image, and His Mission... all of which begin to emerge this week.
